If you are reading this, you or a loved one may have just been arrested or charged with a crime. You may be terrified about the possibility of going to jail or what these charges mean for you or your loved one’s future. If you are afraid about your future and do not know what to do then you have come to the right place; welcome to The Jones & Jones Law Group. First, if you are charged with a crime in Georgia it generally falls into one of two categories: (1) a felony or (2) misdemeanor. Felonies carry a sentence of more than one year in prison and misdemeanors usually carry sentences of up to twelve months in custody and/or a fine. The State has the burden to prove your charges beyond a reasonable doubt which is a high burden of proof; still many prosecutors are very skilled at meeting this burden. You need the right team on your side to aggressively defend you or your loved ones against the State. Our job at Jones & Jones is to walk you through the process and to provide the best defense against the State’s charges. In many cases, we have been successful in getting the charges dismissed or have been able to successfully negotiate with the prosecutor to get your charges significantly reduced. While we cannot promise a particular outcome, our experience as former prosecutors give us a distinct advantage when we are advocating on your behalf. You want someone that knows the system to protect you against it. If you or your loved one bonded out of jail or are still in custody, then you will probably receive a notice to appear in court in the coming months. Do not wait until the court date to contact us; as soon as you retain our Firm we go to work for you trying to resolve your case before you step into the court house. Don’t go it alone!
